Frenchtown Vineyard is on a north facing slope on the west end of the Walla Walla AVA. Classic wind blown loess soils common to the area combined with a slightly cooler microclimate due to the 800 feet of elevation and northern exposure lend to long hang times, and complex fruit.
Though not certified as organic, we are committed to minimalistic farming practices to preserve varietal characteristics and minimize impact to the beautiful Walla Walla Valley and surrounding watershed. The Vineyard starts at 540 feet of elevation on the south side, sloping down to 470 feet at the north east corner. This allows for water and air drainage, and ultimately a site that can produce nuanced and complex fruit you’d expect in a cooler region, but with the ripeness and power Walla Walla red wine is known for.
